RUSLAN TELL ABOUT YOU: WHERE DID YOU GET EDUCATION?
In my family maternal grandfather was a miner and paternal grandfather was a geologist. I remember that we had many books on these topics at home. Perhaps this played certain role in future when I chose my profession. I got my education at K.I. Satpayev National Technical University on the faculty of Materials Handling and Road Construction Machines. After that I started master’s program in Mining Machines and Equipment at D.A. Kunayev Mining Research Institute. Upon completion of the two-year program I entered PhD program in Mining at K.I. Satpayev National Technical University at Underground Mining Department.
HOW DID YOUR CAREER PATH IN BORUSAN CAT KAZAKHSTAN STARTED?
My career path in the company started in 2012 from the position of Mining Application Engineer. The work was exciting and interesting: together with colleagues we were involved in one of important activities – we performed analysis of technical characteristics and productivity of Cat® equipment in comparison with characteristics of the equipment of other manufacturers for our Customers, calculated required quantity of mining equipment for specific projects based on their conditions, measured cycle of the existing equipment at our Customers’ project sites, thereby identifying bottlenecks that must be addressed by Customers to improve productivity.
After two years of work in this position I was appointed to the position of Sales Representative in the Mining Division. And there I had an opportunity to work with almost all Mining Customers that extract minerals both by open-pit mining and underground mining methods. I want to note that the work of sales representative is very peculiar and versatile, it is important for sales representative to apply all the accumulated knowledge and skills at the same time receiving new data which must be analyzed and provide a reliable and comprehensive answer.
A little later I took up the position of Commercial Expert in the Resource Industry Department where I worked with projects in the Russian Far East, in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Today I am the head of the Mining Equipment Sales Department.
MANAGERIAL WORK IS VERY DIFFICULT AND RESPONSIBLE. TELL PLEASE - WHAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT FOR YOU IN THIS WORK AND WHAT IS THE MOST INTERESTING?
I agree with the first statement that managerial work is responsible and difficult because the market is changing, and we need to keep pace with the changing world while offering new solutions to our Customers. As to the second statement, I want to say that I do not see any difficulties in this work - I see opportunities to learn something new and overcome certain issues that were unknown until a certain point in time. Customers teach us to work, and they teach us "in a very interesting and versatile manner" expanding our horizons which in turn automatically becomes interesting.
TELL PLEASE – WHAT ARE YOU INSPIRED BY AND WHERE DO YOU DRAW ENERGY FROM?
I am inspired by people as the main engine of progress and their creativity. Each person is an individual, each person has different chemical processes in their head and body, and it is people who invent everything we use in our daily lives today. That is why I do not give emphasis to anything: development, creation or individual separately. Not getting hung up on certain moments in life and versatility, such as physical activity, no matter what, spiritual cognition and mental processes - this is what gives me energy and allows me to be always in good shape.
WHAT IN YOUR OPINION DISTINGUISHES OUR COMPANY FROM OTHERS?
All things are known by comparison. And since I have nothing to compare with, since I have not worked in other companies, it is difficult for me to answer this question. But I can say for sure that in my opinion our company is definitely distinguished by openness towards employees and towards doing business in general, reputational, ethical and moral values supported in the company at the highest level.
HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN BALANCE BETWEEN WORK AND FAMILY?
I am not good at it. Sometimes I maintain balance successfully, sometimes I don’t, and I think that it is absolutely normal – there is no middle ground. The main thing is understanding by family members, support that I receive from them, which is an important point for me when it comes to balance.
WHAT HOBBIES DO YOU HAVE?
I paint amazing oil paintings, write unordinary poems, create electronic sculptures, launch rockets with Perpetuum Mobile into space and much more. From childhood to this day my hobby is to launch everything in my thoughts and transfer it to paper. I admit that much of this is utopia, but nobody can forbid us to dream. By the way, a small part of this list has already come true. As you know, thoughs are material, and I am sure that in the nearest future something important from this list of "hobbies" will become reality and will certainly bring something new to our world!
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG PROFESSIONALS STARTING THEIR CAREER IN OUR COMPANY?
I wish to show genuine interest in everything you do or would like to do. Be curious like children. Be a little bit of an adventurer and more enthusiastic.
